Day 1

Paris / Tivat or Podgorica - Budva-Becici-Bouches de Kotor region

Flight to Montenegro. Meet your guide at the airport and transfer to your hotel in the Budva-Becici or Bouches de Kotor region. Dinner at your hotel.

Day 2

Cetinje & Njegusi

Breakfast at the hotel. The day will be devoted to visiting the Montenegrin hinterland.

Departure for Cetinje, the former royal capital at the gateway to the Lovcen National Park, whose "Black Mountain" at an altitude of 1,749 meters gives Montenegro its name. Stroll through the town, discovering its colorful facades, Art Nouveau palaces and former embassies. Visit the Royal Palace, residence of the Montenegrin monarch since 1868, now a museum. Stopover in Njegusi, birthplace of the Petrovic dynasty that ruled Montenegro between 1696 and 1918. Backed by Mount Lovcen, in the heart of the Montenegrin countryside, this village is renowned for its traditional architecture of stone houses. One of the country's finest cheeses and hams is produced here.

Lunch in a typical restaurant with ham and cheese accompanied by local red wine.

Return to the coast along the famous Serpentine road, which zigzags along the mountainside and offers unforgettable views of the Kotor fjord. Arrival in Budva, the country's most famous seaside resort. In addition to its beaches and constant hustle and bustle, Budva offers visitors a magnificent old stone town surrounded by ramparts and dominated by a citadel with a magnificent view of the coast. Discover the old town, entirely pedestrianized, with its maze of cobbled streets, stone houses, churches and flower-filled squares. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 3

Bouches de Kotor

Breakfast at the hotel, then off to discover the Kotor Mouths, one of Montenegro's most impressive landscapes between sea and mountains.

Embark on a fly boat to discover the fjord from the sea. Stop at the islet of Notre Dame du Rocher, a 3030 m² artificial island created by piling up stones and objects of all kinds around a reef. Legend has it that two brothers found an icon of the Virgin Mary on the island, after which the 17th-century church was built.

Lunch at a restaurant in Perast, then on to Kotor.

Visit the old town of Kotor, surrounded by an impressive defensive wall. The town's Venetian influences can be seen in its architecture, such as St. Tryphon's Cathedral and its ancient cobbled streets. Visit the Maritime Museum, whose collection of objects and paintings evokes the importance of maritime life in Kotor. Free time to stroll through the narrow streets of the old town or climb the 1,426 steps to the St. John Fortress, 280 meters above the city. The views are breathtaking! Return to your hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 4

Skadar Lake

Breakfast at the hotel, then off for a day's exploration of Lake Skadar, the largest lake in the Balkans between Montenegro and Albania, protected and classified as a national park since 1983. It is one of Europe's most important bird reserves, home to over 270 species of birds (imperial eagles, griffon vultures, eagle owls, etc.), including the last pelicans on the old continent. It is also a major concentration of fish, insects, plants and algae.

The day begins with a visit to Rijeka Crnojevica, a small stone village on the banks of the river of the same name, which winds its way down to Lake Skadar. Board a boat for a cruise through hills and islets surrounded by water lilies.

Lunch in a lakeside restaurant. End of the cruise in the small fishing village of Virpazar.

Visit the National Parks Centre in Vranjina, a beautiful exhibition on Montenegro's 5 national parks: Durmitor National Park, Biogradska Gora National Park, Prokletije National Park, Skadar National Park and Lovcen National Park.

Return to the hotel via Mount Pastrovici, offering extraordinary views of the Montenegrin coastline and the Bay of Buljarica. Arrival at the hotel in the late afternoon. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 5

Tara Canyon and Biogradska Gora National Park

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for the north of the country via the magnificent road along the canyon of the Moraca River, which reaches a depth of 1,000 meters.

Discover the 12th-century Moraca monastery. Situated in the heart of the canyon, it was an important religious center and still houses some magnificent frescoes and icons. Continuing to the north of the country, we stop off at the Tara canyon, the deepest in Europe, with cliffs up to 1,300 meters high and a river of turquoise waters.

Visit Biogradska Gora National Park, home to one of Europe's last remaining primeval forests. A 3 km trail along the shore offers exceptional views of Lake Biogradsko Jezero, formed from an ancient glacier.

Lunch during the visit. Return to hotel in late afternoon. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 6

Montenegrin coastal treasures

Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning departure for Montenegro's rugged coastline, with its seaside resorts, historic towns and unspoilt beaches. Head south along the coast, where you'll catch a glimpse of the Sveti Stefan peninsula, an old fortified fishing village established in the 15th century on a peninsula linked to the mainland by a simple dike and now transformed into a luxury hotel.

Arrive in Bar for a visit to Stari Bar. This ancient fortified town, built at the foot of Mount Rumija amid mountains and olive groves, is the largest medieval archaeological site in Montenegro.

Then a stop at a local red wine producer. Montenegro is famous for its Vranac vines, the country's most widely planted black grape variety. Tasting of 2 Vranac varieties.

Lunch on site, then return to the hotel in the afternoon. Free time. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 7

Ostrog Monastery and Podgorica

Breakfast at the hotel.

Discover the Ostrog monastery, the country's main pilgrimage site, which attracts large numbers of devotees. Clinging to the mountain, the monastery is built into the rock and overlooks the Bjelopavlici plain. It preserves the relics of Saint Basil of Ostrog, the miracle-worker whom believers come to pray to throughout the year.

Lunch in a restaurant next to the monastery, then drive to the capital Podgorica.

Panoramic tour of Podgorica, a blend of different architectural styles, some Turkish-inspired, others more modern. Visit to the Orthodox Cathedral of the Resurrection, the city's largest, which took 20 years to build. Covering an area of 1,300 m², it is decorated with frescoes and gilding in a flamboyant Byzantine style.

Return to the hotel in the late afternoon. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 8

Budva-Becici-Bouches de Kotor/ Tivat or Podogorica region / Paris

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Tivat or Podogorica airport. Assistance with check-in formalities and flight to Paris.
