Cairo: The Pyramids of Giza and the Egyptian Museum

Your adventure begins in Cairo, where you'll discover the famous pyramids of Giza. The great Pyramid of Khufu, a spectacular and unique monument, is the last of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing. You can also admire the majestic Sphinx, mystical symbol of ancient Egypt. In the afternoon, a visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum will take you deep into the treasures of ancient Egypt, including the famous relics of Tutankhamun.
Luxor: The ancient capital of the Pharaohs

Flight to Luxor, the ancient capital of Pharaonic Egypt. This city is brimming with ancient treasures, withmust-see sites like the Temple of Karnak, a true architectural masterpiece. The temple of Louxor, dedicated to Amon, will fascinate you with its history and splendid decorations. Discoverthe Theban Necropolis, where the royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings, including that of Tutankhamun, will reveal the mysteries of ancient Egypt.

Aswan: The Pearl of the South

Assuan, the last stop on your cruise, will amaze you with its exceptional sites. The Temple of Philae, dedicated to the goddess Isis, and the Aswan High Dam bear witness to Egypt's grandeur. You'll also have the opportunity to take a felucca ride on the Nile, a moment of serenity as the water flows by. If you wish, you can also visit the temple of Abu Simbel, a majestic site safeguarded by UNESCO.

Day 1

PARIS - CAIRO

Flight to Cairo. On arrival, welcome by our local representative. Transfer to hotel.

Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2

CAIRO - GUIZEH - CAIRO

Breakfast.

Departure for the Giza plateau, with its three great pyramids of Kephren, Mykerinos and above all Kheops, the only one of the Seven Wonders of the World still standing today. At their feet stands the Sphinx, 70 m long and 20 m high.

Lunch in a typical restaurant.

In the afternoon, visit the Great Egyptian Museum, Cairo's new museum: built near the Giza pyramids, it is the world's largest museum dedicated to a single civilization, that of ancient Egypt, and houses the entire collection of Tutankhamun's treasures.

Optional evening Son et Lumière show at Giza: discover the marvellous history of ancient Egypt. The Sphinx, vigilant guardian of the City of the Dead for almost five thousand years, "tells" the story of the ancient Egyptians, the construction of the pyramids and the great and famous figures of ancient Egypt.

Day 3

CAIRO

Breakfast.

Walk around the Cairo Citadel: built by Sultan Saladin in the 12th century, it offers a magnificent view of the city. On this promontory stands the Mohammed Ali Mosque, also known as the Alabaster Mosque because its interior is entirely clad in alabaster, and whose style is inspired by traditional Ottoman architecture. It houses the marble tomb of Viceroy Mohammed Ali, considered the father of modern Egypt.

Lunch in a typical Cairo restaurant.

Continue with a stroll through Sukh Khan El Khalili to discover this famous "Bazaar", one of the oldest and largest in the East.

Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4

CAIRO - LOUXOR

Breakfast.

Transfer to Cairo airport and flight to Luxor on Egyptair. On arrival, welcome, transfer and boarding of your cruise ship.

Welcome cocktail. Depending on flight times, lunch is taken either in Cairo or on board the ship.

Optional evening Sound and Light Show at Karnak (optional): this show recounts the history of this temple, recounts the achievements of the great pharaohs and describes the ancient treasures of ancient Thebes.

Day 5

LOUXOR - KARNAK - LOUXOR - ESNA

Breakfast on board.

In the morning, visit the Temple of Karnak, built by the pharaohs of the 12th dynasty and dedicated to the triad Amun, Mut and Khonsu, the temple was so enlarged and embellished by subsequent dynasties that it includes a multitude of monuments of great interest: the Pylons, the Obelisks, the Hall of the 134 Columns and the Sacred Lake. Every Pharaoh left his mark.

Continuation of the visit with Luxor Temple: dedicated to Amun, the work of Amenhotep III and enlarged by Ramses II, Luxor Temple, which the Egyptians called the "Harem of the South", was a dependency of Karnak Temple, where one of the most important religious festivals took place, the Opet Festival, celebrating the meeting of the god Amun with his wife, the goddess Mut. Scenes from this festival decorate the Hall of the 14 Columns and are the work of Pharaoh Tutankhamun.

Return to the ship and lunch on board. Start sailing to Esna.

Day 6

ESNA - EDFOU - KOM OMBO

Breakfast and navigation to Edfu.

Arrival at Edfu, departure by horse-drawn carriage for a visit to the Temple of Horus: dedicated to Horus the Falcon, it is built entirely of sandstone. Cleared by the French Egyptologist Mariette, it is a veritable open book: from the entrance pylon to the sanctuary, the progression of the visit towards the Naos or "Holy of Holies" evokes the sacred life that reigned in the temple, as well as the daily rituals in the service of the god.

Back on board for lunch.

In the afternoon, sail to Kom Ombo and visit the temple: this Ptolemaic temple, which resembles an acropolis, is dedicated to two deities: Haroeris (Horus the Great, solar god and falcon-headed warrior) and Sobek the crocodile. It towers some 20 metres above the Nile, forming a majestic loop at its feet.

Dinner and overnight on board at Kom Ombo.

Day 7

KOM OMBO - ASWAN

Breakfast on board.

On arrival in Aswan, visit the Temple of Philae: "the pearl of Egypt", dedicated to Isis, sister and wife of Osiris, mother of Horus. After the construction of the First Dam, it was partly swallowed up by the reservoir. In 1960, doomed to total destruction when the Egyptian government decided to build the Aswan High Dam, Unesco decided to save it and rebuild it on the nearby island of Agilika. It's on this island that you'll be able to admire it once again.

Back on board for lunch.

Afternoon felucca trip on the Nile, passing near Elephantine Island.

Optional evening Sound and Light Show at Philae (optional and payable on site): a show depicting the legends of the goddess Isis and the god Osiris, as well as the history of this temple.

Day 8

ASWAN - ABOU SIMBEL - ASWAN - KOM OMBO - EDFOU

Breakfast on board. Free day on board with full board.

Optional excursion (with coach transfer and early morning departure to watch the sunrise over the desert, with packed lunch en route - book with our representative) to Abu Simbel, whose temple is the most impressive of the stone testaments left by Ramses II. Thanks to an extraordinary rescue operation organized by Unesco, the two rock-cut temples were transported 210 metres from their original location and 65 metres higher. The four colossal 20-metre-high statues frame the entrance to the Great Temple. The Small Temple, or Temple of Hathor, was also built by Ramses II for his wife Nefertari. The bas-reliefs in this small temple are of remarkable beauty and finesse. Of particular interest is the scene of Nefertari's coronation by the two goddesses Isis and Hathor.

Return on board for lunch. Afternoon sailing to Edfu.

Nubian evening. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 9

EDFU - ESNA - LOUXOR

Breakfast on board.

A day on the water. On the banks of the Nile, where life flows peacefully, as in the days of the Pharaohs. You'll come across feluccas with elegant sails and heavily laden rafts. Before your very eyes, the valley becomes ever greener.

Lunch and Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 10

LOUXOR

Breakfast on board.

Visit the Theban Necropolis: the Valley of the Kings, dominated by a natural pyramid, is home to 62 royal tombs. Carefully hidden, they have nevertheless been plundered, with the exception of Tutankhamun's famous tomb. Visit to the Temple of Medinet Habou, funerary temple of Ramses III, which also housed a royal palace. It is the largest archaeological site after Karnak. On the way back, photo stop in front of the Colossi of Memnon.

Return to the ship and lunch on board.

Afternoon free to stroll through the souks or take a horse-drawn carriage ride.

Day 11

LOUXOR - CAIRO - PARIS

Breakfast on board. Transfer to Luxor airport, assistance and flight to Paris via Cairo.
