Planter pour demain, notre engagement avec a Tree for You
It's possible to support the environment while traveling!
With this in mind, we joined A Tree for You to take concrete action in favor of reforestation.

At ATC Routes du Monde, our commitment to responsible tourism has led us to establish a significant partnership with A Tree for You, an organization dedicated to reforestation and agroforestry around the world. Together, we are working to restore degraded ecosystems and support local communities, notably in Togo's Zio River valley.

Who is A Tree for You?

Planting today for a sustainable future

A Tree for You is an organization that facilitates tree planting by connecting donors with reforestation projects around the world. Their mission is to promote human development in harmony with the environment, implementing initiatives that benefit both the planet and local populations.

Their actions

They focus on several areas

Benefits for local communities

Trees enrich the soil, improve crop yields and provide firewood. ©APAF Togo
Enrichissement de la biodiversité

Enriching biodiversity

Planting a variety of species helps restore natural habitats.
Lutte contre le dérèglement climatique

Combating climate change

Trees absorb CO₂ and help reduce the carbon footprint.

The Zio river valley: an endangered ecosystem

Our joint project in Togo

A reforestation project for a sustainable future

The Zio river valley in Togo is a region facing alarming land degradation, due to intense demographic pressure, the abandonment of traditional farming practices, intensive agriculture and deforestation. These factors have led to soil depletion, loss of biodiversity and difficulties for local communities to meet their natural resource needs.

In collaboration with A Tree for You, we are supporting an agroforestry and forestry project aimed at:

  • Planting thousands of trees: fertility, forestry and fruit species to enrich soils and diversify crops.
  • Promote sustainable agricultural practices: integrate agroforestry techniques to improve yields without resorting to chemical inputs.
  • Provide firewood and timber: reduce pressure on natural forests by offering alternative sources to local communities.

But how important are trees?

Trees play an essential role in preserving our planet...
Résilience des populations locales

Resilience of local populations

They offer sustainable income through the sale of diversified products (fruit, leaves, wood, honey, etc.), create local jobs and provide essential resources over the long term, while providing a microclimate.
Absorption du CO₂

CO₂ absorption

A single tree absorbs around 210 kg of CO₂ per year, helping to combat global warming
Purification de l'air

Air purification

They filter atmospheric pollutants and release oxygen.
Régulation du cycle de l'eau

Regulating the water cycle

By stabilizing the soil, they prevent erosion and promote water infiltration.
Habitat pour la biodiversité

Habitat for biodiversity

Many species depend on trees for their survival.
Towards more responsible tourism

Our commitment to a sustainable future

Together, let's plant the seeds of a greener, more resilient future.

As a player in the tourism sector, we recognize our responsibility to preserve the environment. Tourism accounts for 11% of greenhouse gas emissions in France, with transport being the leading source of emissions in this sector. By supporting reforestation projects like the one in the Zio River Valley, we are helping to absorb some of these emissions and promote more sustainable tourism.

We invite our travelers and partners to join us in this approach, so that every trip becomes an opportunity to contribute positively to the planet and local communities.
