A few things you need to know

From Paris, a direct flight to Tashkent takes around 6 to 7 hours. With a stopover, the journey can take 9 to 12 hours.
Return tickets range from 500 to 900 euros, depending on season and airline.

To explore the main cities and enjoy the desert, we recommend a stay of at least 10 days. For complete immersion including more remote sites, 2 weeks are ideal.

  • Passport valid at least 6 months after date of return.
  • No visa required for a stay of less than 30 days for French citizens.

The official language is Uzbek, but Russian is very commonly used. English is not widely spoken outside tourist areas.
Here are some useful words in Uzbek:

  • Nech pul?: How much does it cost?

The official currency is the Uzbek Sum (UZS).
1 euro is approximately equivalent to 13,000 UZS (rate to be checked before your departure). Cash is recommended, as card payments remain limited.

Uzbekistan has a continental climate with cold winters and very hot summers.

  • April to June and September to October: Best time to travel, with pleasant temperatures between 20 and 30°C.
  • July and August: Very hot (often above 40°C), especially in desert areas.
  • Winter (November to February): Cold and dry, but ideal for visiting cities with fewer tourists.

Uzbek cuisine is rich in flavor and influenced by the Silk Road. Here are a few must-try dishes:

  • Plov: National dish based on rice, meat, carrots and spices.
  • Samsa: Puff pastry stuffed with meat or vegetables, baked in a traditional oven.
  • Shashlik : Grilled meat skewers, served with bread and onions.
  • Lagman : Thick noodle soup garnished with vegetables and meat.
  • Manti : Steamed ravioli, often filled with lamb.

Uzbekistan is GMT+5, which is 4 hours ahead of France in winter and 3 hours ahead in summer.
